Lovely Barn Board from Fenelon Falls.

Red Cedar Triplexes, Barn Board Models, Tap Handles...

Good lumber, a comfortable workshop, an assortment of good tools and a patient wife. I was lucky when I kept a busy workshop open for a run of ten - twelve years... I had it all.

Now that I've downsized my list of hobbies or activities (the motorcycle is sold, the workshop is closed) I look back at my photo collection if I want to see some of the items I built 'out back'.

Western red cedar and gray barn board were almost always available to me, so you will see a lot of birdhouses from those two materials. White pine, planed and rough cut, were also plentiful.

With a couple of electric heaters on the go, the shop was cozy (and very dusty) just about all winter long.

I sold two of my last set of log cabins last weekend, have logs cut for three more, so if I find the time I will build just a few more.

I was able to collect a load of old western cedar boards from Joe Flagler's dock in Fenelon Falls. Some of it became tap handles for a local home brewer:

 

Another batch of cedar houses...

I took a break from cedar houses to make massive knitting needles!

More photographs will follow even though the workshop is still closed for a massive clean up!
